Hi. I am new to the association. I would like to know if you should be a nurse or other healthcare practitioner for the Oasis certification? Thank you so much.
Hello! So sorry to be late in responding. You do not need to be a nurse or medical practitioner to sit for the OASIS exam, but we do recommend that you have experience in home care assessment and OASIS application or quality assurance related to OASIS comprehensive assessments. You can get more info about the exam in the candidate handbook here: https://ahcc.decisionhealth.com/media/1051/2017_hcs-o-candidate-handbook_p3_final.pdf.
Thank you for your response. I have another question. I am a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), do you have any recommendations regarding how I can obtain experience in Home Health Coding and learning more regarding Oasis? I really want to expand my knowledge base. Thank you so much.

Hi again, Sorry for the delay in responding. The Decision Health Ultimate Trainings are a great resource: http://www.decisionhealth.com/ultimatetraining/. And AHCC/BMSC also offers an online training course: https://ahcc.decisionhealth.com/bmsc-associate-program. I hope these are helpful!
